The Brazilian Microbiological Resource Center (BMRC) is an information and reference center on the collection, maintenance, characterization (morphological, physiological and genetic), and on the availability of microorganisms (including cells, DNA, genes, plasmids and vectors) of Brazilian collections; besides offering authentication and validation services to institutions and organizations. Initially, the project aimed to include information on diazotrophic and plant-growth promoting bacteria of culture collections of the South and Central-West Regions. High demands for other Brazilian collections resulted in redesigning the project. Presently, BMRC includes a broader net of information on microorganisms of Brazilian collections.
